Aerobics
YMCA Aerobics classes are varied to give participants an opportunity to set their own pace while experiencing a variety of styles, pace and personality. Each class, however, accomplishes the goals of cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, strength and toning. Listed below are the classes offered. All aerobics are free and unlimited to YMCA members. Non-members may pay for a daily all-day pass to the YMCA for $5 or purchase a monthly class pass.


Cardio Room The Cardiovascular Room features treadmills, exercise bikes, elliptical trainers and stair climbers. This room is open during regular YMCA hours, seven days a week.

Work out in the Weight Room The YMCA’s weight room is used by both men and women and is designed for those 16 and older. (Children 15 and under are not allowed in the weight and cardio rooms). The YMCA offers several different types of machines including: abs, back, leg press, leg extension, chest press and hamstring. The weight room features brand new, top of the line rubber encased dumbbells and plates. The weight room is open during the regular YMCA hours.

Seniors on Strength (SOS) This class is designed to help keep your muscle mass and flexibility. You will be led through a full-body workout series using dumbbells and your own body weight – with a focus on stretching. We would love to have you in the class. Consultation with a physician is recommended prior to class participation. Class is ongoing. Members have made the following comments about this class: “I went shopping with my granddaughter and didn’t have to rest.” “I couldn’t believe it; I was able to lift my groceries onto the counter, instead of emptying the bag from the chair.” “I feel so much better.” Class meets Tues/Wed/Thur 9-9:30 a.m. Registration is ongoing. Women on Weights Women on Weights (WOW) is a class designed strictly for women in the weight room. Jennifer Rankin specializes in the special needs of women in muscular toning, flexibility and strength. Class meets MWF in the weight room from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Registration is ongoing. Cost: Free to Y Members

Home School PE Program This program is available to all home school participants. Emphasis is on fun and physical activity. Participants are taken through a series that includes a warm-up, agility drills, stretching and games such as hockey, soccer, tag dodge ball and much more. Class meets the first 3 Thursdays of each month in the gymnasium. Registration is ongoing. Cost: Free to Y Members, Non-Members must purchase a regular day pass to participate.

H.Y.P.E.: Healthy Youth for Physical Exercise Teen Fitness Certification: This new program is designed to give youth, ages 12-16, the opportunity to get certified to exercise in our fitness facility. After a few short sessions covering the basics of exercise, fitness floor etiquette, nutrition and body structure, participating youth will receive certification to use the Y’s cardiovascular and weight training equipment.
